Easy to do at home Hair conditioning treatment
Homemade Hair Treatment- DIY Conditioning
Are you looking for a good Homemade Hair Treatment or DIY Conditioning to fix or mend your hair?
Have your tried any on the market or making your own before?
It’s true that sun, wind, weather – pretty much life takes its toll on our hair. Making it dry, brittle and dull.
We had a situation causing us to search for a good conditioner to repair my daughter’s severely damaged hair, but everything I found, just didn’t seem to work.
It began when she had her hair colored by a non-professional. Adding to that, she had severe damage due to climate and the conditions where she had been living.
We began at a professional salon for a re-color, and a much needed trim. Her hair was much better, yet still very dry and dull.
After some searching I found this home remedy on-line and after just 2 treatments, it looked FABULOUS! I wish I had kept the link to this recipe, and I apologize to the original source, but a huge thank you to the creator, it works wonderfully!
The ingredients are probably all in your house right now and it’s so easy and quick to put together.
We couldn’t believe the difference after one time, and after two times – WOW! I believe your hair will love this too.

Homemade Hair Treatment- DIY Conditioning
Ingredients:
1 cup of mayonnaise (not miracle whip)
2 Tbl. olive oil
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
Directions:
In a bowl combine the ingredients and mix well.
To dry hair, generously apply one third to one half of the mixture
Massage into the hair, paying special attention to dry, split ends.
Leave as is, or put on a shower cap.
Allow this mixture to sit in your hair for 20-30 minutes.
Wash as normal.
Moisture is restored to the hair by the mayonnaise and olive oil.
The apple cider vinegar gives shine.
If long hair, this mixture will provide enough to apply probably two times.
Pour any extra homemade conditioner into a baggie or container and store in the refrigerator, then apply again 4-6 days later.
Look how great her hair looks after this treatment!

This sounds so great! I want to give this a try!
Thanks for sharing this. We make nearly all of our own stuff, but hadn’t thought about this!
I totally could use something like this as I have been coloring my hair for years and definitely have some damage and dryness going on. But one question, does it smell bad? Not going to lie, I am not a huge mayo fan for my food (if it is mixed in well and can’t smell or taste it, I am Ok with it), so was wondering if it is smelly or not – sorry the thought sometimes makes me a bit queasy (guess it is just me).
I need to do this treatment a couple of times a month in the summer. My hair gets so dry. Thanks for sharing an inexpensive and more natural way to treat my hair.
Blessings,
Shari
Carrie,
Over the years I have tried just mayo and recently just Olive Oil. So, I bet this would work.
I will be trying this soon and I will let you know.
Blessings,
Diane Roark
Diane, As a teenager, I used to used Mayo to restore moisture to my hair and raw egg to add shine. I am definitely going to give this a try.
We used to use mayonnaise as a hair conditioner when I was a teen. My hair was really really long and got some split ends as a result. This worked well!
Your comment was very helpful, thanks for sharing your experience!
I will try the mayo/olive Oil/ Vinegar combination as well now. :]
Have a great day!

I just love homemade recipes of any kind! One of my daughter’s has hair that long, so I want to try this –thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
Thanks for the recipe! I will pin this for my long hair.
Hi Carrie – This looks like a great treatment, and your daughter’s hair looks beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing it with the Let’s Get Real party.
I saw somewhere online a recipe that included castor oil and eggs that I wanted to try. It sounds similar to this one since mayonnaise is made from eggs!
My daughter and I could really use this! Thank you for sharing. I’m looking forward to giving it a try.
