Family members sees our time spent with them valuable and worth more than any amount of money. Scheduling in games to play together be a cherished memory their whole life through. Playing games is perfect way to have FUN, teach sportsmanship, how to win graciously and lose civilly – both necessary life skills.
Game Time!
Milk Jug & Ball Toss Quick to throw together anytime and for any age Two Games: First is a toss game for 2 players to as many as you’d like. Simply cut clean milk jugs out of one side. Holding the handle, toss the ball to the other player who catches the ball with their milk jug.
Second Game: Using clean empty milk jugs or cartons, mark points on each. Adjusting for the age of the participants, place the containers far or close for the ball toss. Add up the points as players toss the ball.
Candy Bar Game Here is a GREAT family or group activity. There is little preparation, inexpensive and will get everyone involved for a great time. Supplies: Scarf, hat, jacket, gloves (bulk, inexpensive garden gloves work really well here) Frozen large candy bar Tin disposable pan (I’d double it up) Large table spoon 2 Dice Instructions: Place the wrapped and frozen Roll dice to see who begins first. The player who rolls the highest begins. The beginner player at the ‘GO’ hurries to put on the scarf, hat, jacket and gloves. He works to unwrap the candy bar while wearing the gloves (and other clothing) and with the spoon breaks off pieces of the candy bar to eat. RULE: to eat the candy bar, the player must take off the gloves, eat it completely, put on the gloves and continue (ok, I don’t share my straw in my drink either) MEANWHILE the other players are rolling the dice. The player sitting next to the beginner rolls first and gets ONE roll. If they get a double six, all yell “DOUBLES” and the player with the candy has to take off any of the clothing and pass it with the candy bar and spoon to the player who rolled Doubles. If the player did not roll doubles on their only shake, they quickly pass the dice to the next player. This continues as quickly as possible allowing a player to roll doubles, preventing any one player from eating the candy bar. Have fun and enjoy the treat — if you roll doubles!
Oh, it’s time for some family FUN! This FUN game is called 100 and will fit the bill perfectly for 3 players and up. It’s for any age that can write their numbers OR roll the dice while a parent writes. Low prep, easy to play and great for any time and anywhere! Stan’s brother Brad and his wife Ruthann are some of the most fun people I know. They love to play games as a family and taught us this one a few years back. It’s called 100 and is a terrific game to take along anywhere to play anytime.
100
Supplies: 2 dice (6 sided dice) Small pieces of paper, one per player Pen — one that is smooth such as shown Directions: Each player takes one piece of paper and rolls ONE die. The high roll begins the game. The player to the left of the beginner player gets the pen and at “GO” begins to write 1,2,3,4, etc. Meanwhile the person with the dice is rolling BOTH dice and if the person rolls anything but double SIX’S after rolling, passes the dice to the next person, skipping the person with the pen. The next person quickly rolls, also trying to roll DOUBLE SIXES. If a double six is rolled, the person who rolled it grabs the pen from the person writing and begins to write on their own paper 1,2,3, and on. The next player grabs the dice and rolls. If they get a DOUBLE SIX they grab the pen and write their 1,2,3, etc. If not, the next person gets the dice. If a person rolls DOUBLE SIXES and has already begun to write numbers on their paper, they pick up where they left off. When a player reaches 100, they shout ONE HUNDRED and wins the game.

Recognize a blessing and be a blessing today
Carrie,
You always have the best games. I love the candy bar game. We will have to try it sometime when we are all together. Your family is so encouraging to me. You always try to have fun together as a family. I am sure a lot of the reason is because you are such a great mom.
Many blessings,
Diane Roark
You don’t have to convince me and think you know how much we love to play games for family fun. Thanks for some new options though 😉
Fantastic ideas for spending time together as a family! Thank you!
Carrie , you can make it a rule that cell phones have to be turned off and put in a bowl, hat, or whatever and can not be used until the family bonding time ,AKA games are over …
What a neat game!
Thanks for joining the Link Up this week!
Thank you so much for sharing this post on my Meet Up Monday blog party. This brought back such great memories of Saturday night game night with my family.
