These Christmas M&M Sugar Cookie Bars are the answer my friends!

Soft, tender, delicious and of course the M&M’s:) 

The best part, besides the incredible taste, is that these babies begin with a cookie mix!

Yep, that’s right and they are so amazing, you’ll never guess.

Give them a try and top with sprinkles, other candy, or frosting. They are so versatile and yummy. 

Christmas M&M Sugar Cookie Bars


1 pouch of Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix either 17.5 oz OR 21 oz *see variation

1/2 cup of salted butter (1 stick), softened

1 large egg

1 large egg yolk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

*1 TBL. milk IF using the 21 oz. mix size


1  1/2 cups M&M candies



Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Prepare an 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan by coating well with cooking spray. Or line with parchment paper as shown here with the ends going off the sides and then coat with a cooking spray.

In a bowl mix together:

The sugar cookie mix

The softened butter (use softened)

The egg and egg yolk


But just enough to combine and it becomes a soft dough. You do not want to over mix:

Press the dough evenly into the pan. 

Press the M&M’s into the dough.


Bake until the corners are a golden yellow and the center is set. It will take about 20-30 minutes depending on your oven. Do not over bake, but you don’t want it raw either. 

When cooled, lift the sugar cookie out of the pan using the parchment paper as handles.

Cut into serving sizes. 

Keep in a covered container until serving time.
