The Lost Art of Saving – SwagBucks

My thrifty and awesome daughter-in-law Tawni is the queen of finding ways to SAVE $ and graciously put together this post on how get things for FREE by using Swagbucks.  With Swagbucks you can quickly earn points, which then are turned into a fabulous purchasing power just as if they were cash!  Thank you Tawni for this very informative and EASY to navigate tutorial so we can all benefit from using Swagbucks!

Swagbucks

Tawni:  As a stay-at-home mom, I’m always trying to find ways to supplement our income. One of my favorite things is Swagbucks!

What is Swagbucks?

It’s a website that started out as just a search engine, but now it is so much more! You can earn points for doing lots of different things. Those points can be put towards gift cards or Paypal cash, among other things. I always get Amazon gift cards with my points, and it has helped pay for MOST our kids’ Christmas presents for the past four years.
A $5 Amazon gift card is 500 points and I usually get 2-3 a month, so that’s $120-$180 of free money a year! Sometimes I get more if I get referrals (see below) or take a bunch of surveys.
EASILY Earn Swagbucks on Your Computer.

1. Daily poll, NOSO, Swag Button, Daily Crave
These four items are located on the left side of the screen and can be done every day to earn a total of 5 points. If you download the Swag Button, you’ll automatically get 1 point per day without doing anything.

2. Searches
The search bar is at the top of the screen. You can get points 1-2 times a day just for searching. When I’m sitting at the computer, I just keep Swagbucks open and while I’m doing my other work I will periodically do searches until I get points.

3. Shopping
If you’re going to buy something online, search for the store on Swagbucks first. Chances are, you can get points for every dollar you spend! For example, I order things from Groupon a lot. So in the Search bar I type in “groupon” and the first result tells me how many Swagbucks per dollar I can get. Click on that link to buy and you’ll get Swagbucks! If you forget to search for the store first, don’t worry. Usually when you’re on a particular website, Swagbucks will recognize it (if you have the Swag Button) and let you know that you can earn points. I recently earned 1,000 points for buying printer ink from 4inkjets.com, which was enough for 2 $5 Amazon gift cards.

4. Surveys
Sometimes if I have a little extra time I do surveys to earn more points. You can find them at the top under the Answers tab. I don’t go for the ones with the most points because it seems I never qualify for them, they take way too much time, or you have to do something special like be part of a panel for a few weeks. Go for the ones that take 10-20 minutes (or less) with a lower point reward.

5. Videos
You can stream Swagbucks TV without having to actually watch the videos. You get 3 points for every 10 videos. Tip: Videos only have to stream for 30 seconds before you move on to the next one.

6. Referrals
You will receive a referral code unique to your account for others to sign up under. To find your referral code, go to Refer Friends at the top of the page. You will earn 10% of their earnings – for life! When I first started this I referred my husband, and then put it on Facebook and easily gathered more referrals that way. My husband did the same thing. (At that point in time, however, I only got points up to 1,000. I think 10% for life is a much better deal!)

7. Games
If you relax by playing games you can earn 2 Swagbucks for every game you play with a max of 10 Swagbucks per day.

8. Swag codes
If you have the Swag Button installed, it will let you know when there is a new Swag Code. These are found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or somewhere on the Swagbucks website (don’t worry, it will let you know where they’re located). They WANT you to find it.

9. Coupons
Do you ever print coupons online? If you do, you can print the same ones on Swagbucks that you find on coupons.com. If you don’t, you can start NOW! To find the coupons, go to Discover at the top, and click on Coupons. Remember you can print each coupon twice, and you will receive 10 points per coupon redeemed (it does take a few weeks for the points to show up).

Earn Swagbucks on Your Phone

1. Download the Swagbucks App
On the Swagbucks app you can do searches, answer the daily poll, and put in Swag Codes. On the days that I’m not near the computer at all, I use my phone to get points doing these things making it even more convenient to chalk up more points!

2. Download the SwagBucks TV Mobile App
The great thing about having Swagbucks TV on your phone or tablet is you don’t have to do anything except to start because it will automatically go to the next video for you! Usually I turn it on first thing in the morning (keeping my charger plugged in because it does use a good chunk of the battery life) and let it run while I get ready, clean up, get my kids ready, etc. You earn 2 points for every 5 videos, up to 36 points per day!

If this all sounds overwhelming, just start small and do the daily stuff (poll, NOSO, etc.) and searches to get you going. Then when you’re comfortable with that, start adding in other things like videos, surveys, and the phone apps. It’s amazing how quickly the points start adding up! Let’s get those points rolling in; Christmas will be here before you know it and you will have FREE money this way to spend!!!

If you are a current Swagbucks user, what do you like to do to earn points? Please share!  If you have questions, ask in the comment section and as they are answered, everyone will be able to benefit and learn together.
