Asian Orzo

Oh, you are going to love this so simple, easy on the waist-line and economical recipe.

A purchased rotisserie chicken makes this come together in just the time it takes to cook up the Orzo – minutes!      The flavors leave you craving it again and again and again.

Asian Orzo

Ingredients:

16 oz. package Orzo

1 chicken bouillon cube or 2 tsp. chicken bouillon

1/2 – 2/3 of a  rotisserie chicken   OR  1  1/2 lbs. chicken breast grilled

6 Tbl. teriyaki marinade (NOT soy sauce)

1 tsp. Montreal chicken seasoning 1 cucumber, chopped

1 red bell pepper, chopped

8-10 green onions, sliced

3 Tbl. cilantro, chopped

8 Tbl. bottled Ranch salad dressing

4 Tbl. sweet chili sauce

2 cups carrots, shredded

Directions:

Cook Orzo according to directions, adding bouillon to the cooking water for flavor.

Drain and cool a bit. In a large bowl, combine the cooked and drained Orzo and all the remaining ingredients.

Serve immediately or refrigerate for later use.

If refrigerating when ready to serve, stir to see if a bit more ranch dressing may be needed.

  1. Would you believe I’ve never cooked up orzo before? I’ve had it cooked by other people, I just haven’t had any recipes. Now that’s all changed. We love almost anything Asian so this really caught my attention. Is Montreal chicken seasoning just like the Montreal steak seasoning only for chicken? I’ve never heard of it. Is it in the spice section at the grocery store? Would you be willing to share this at our Making Monday link party? We would love it if you did. Thanks. Have a fabulous day. http://www.abrightandbeautifullife.com/making-monday-9/

  2. I had never thought to put ranch dressing in a recipe. I’ve only used it as dressing for salad. What a great idea! This Asian Orzo looks so good. Thanks for sharing at Saturday Dishes.

  4. Carrie,

I stop by to look at all these ingredients again. I have never had ranch with chili sauce and cilantro, etc. This sounds so interesting.
