Lost Art of Saving – EBATES

What is EBATES?  Every time members shop online it pay them cash back.  If that isn’t enough it also gives great deals and coupons too!  A wonderful contributor put this post together for me so we can learn more about Ebates as part of our LOST ART OF SAVING Series.

Here’s how it works:

Every store has a different percent of cash back, and the amounts change frequently. For example, when you do a search (link) on Ebates for Groupon, they are offering 6% cash back of your purchase. If you buy a Groupon for $35, while going through Ebates to make the purchase, you will get $2.00 cash back just for using Ebates! Since Groupon already has amazing deals, this free cash back just makes it even sweeter!

There are no strings attached- no fees, no downloading, no surveys, no rebates, no obligations, no personal information. There is no limit to the cash back you can earn! Simply shop online and wait for your check! Ebates offers many stores to shop from including Sears, Target, Best Buy, JC Penny, Home Depot and much more. This also works for “pickup in store” items, as long as you pay online.

To set it up:

  • Click  HERE and create an account and when you are ready to make an online purchase, simply log into your account, search the store you want to buy from (for example, Walmart has 2% cash back).
  • Click on the “shop now” link and it will re-direct you to the actual stores’ website.
  • You complete your purchase the same way you always do, so you can still use promo codes, gift cards, etc, since you are shopping from the actual stores’ website.
  • Ebates will record your visit and add money to your account about 2-3 days after your purchase.

Be sure to keep the Ebates browser open and shop from the new browser they open for you because it is attached to a tracking number. This is how Ebates tracks the money you earn. Every quarter, it’s payday! You can choose between a check in the mail, paypal deposit or give it to charity.

I have been using Ebates for years, and I love getting my quarterly check in the mail! If you already do a lot of online shopping, your checks can get pretty big. Easy peasy!

Comments

  1. I have never tried Ebates myself, but know others that do still. Been meaning to learn more about it though, so can’t thank you enough for sharing about it here today ;)

  2. Carrie, thank you for writing this Ebates post. I have seen commercials on TV for it and have dismissed it as something that people who DO SHOP can benefit from. I haven’t shopped beyond groceries in a long time. But I have pinned it to my Money Saving Tips board and hope to be able to put it into practice SOON!
