Kids Thanksgiving Table
Kids Thanksgiving Table

When I was a kid, being banned to the ‘kids table’ was not a good thing in my opinion.  It was boring and it meant my sisters and I would just annoy each other, while we wait for dinner as we fidgeted smelling the delicious aromas coming from the much anticipated food.

I decided that I wanted a FUN Kids table with things to keep the kiddos busy so they weren’t bored, enjoyed the day and allowed the adults to visit a bit.  Come see what I put together just for YOU my AMS friends!

*See my ideas for the teens and adults at the bottom of this post, they should have FUN too, right:)

The place-mats on the table with the crayons are a great place to start to keep little hands busy. Thanksgiving Kids Table

My handsome hubby Stan made that very cool rope swag hanging from the fireplace (I have to brag it looks so awesome) to hang the different crafts from.  We looped grosgrain ribbon from the rope and then decorated the clothes pins with stick-on foam shapes or glued on some trim. After that it was simple to clip on the items to the ribbon.  I didn’t want it a ‘free-for-all’ so the pieces and crafts were just a mess, and this way the older kids, or the adults can give the kids one activity at a time.  You could use a garland, ribbon, banner: anything to hang your crafts from, or have baskets to keep them separate if you have several kids involved and it would be too heavy to hang them.

Each kiddo gets a sack with a picture to color and a sticker sheet to decorate to make it their own.  This will give each a place to keep their crafts and things, so when it’s time to go home, it’s all together and everyone is happy:)Kids Thanksgiving Table 3

Here is a view of the kids table with a place mat, the plate and I tied the fork and spoon to the napkin with a piece of twine and a small plastic cup so there is less to spill.

Pilgrim Cups

How great are these Pilgrim Cups!  They can be filled with anything your heart desires from crayons, colored pencils, crackers, pretzels and healthy munchies for the kiddos to snack on while waiting for the main meal.  They can even be a take home gift filled with chocolate:) The easy tutorial is HERE

This Indian Head Dress is not only fun to make but a great teaching tool to help kids understand the importance the American Indians played in saving the Pilgrims lives. The instructions are HEREIndian Head Dress

*Along with these fabulous sites and their ideas for games, printables and crafts, I love Oriental Trading Company   to order items that I can’t make. For example scratch off leaves, sticker sheets, coloring picture with magnet, sun-catchers and the like.  You might consider checking them out for things for the older kids, teens AND adults too, such as puzzles and brain teasers for them to work on while visiting, Chinese yo yo’s and of course you can’t go wrong with BINGO for everyone to get involved and have small prizes for the winners.  HINT:  I always look at the ratings before ordering.  Why not let everyone in on the fun while making great memories to last a lifetime.
