Easy Sweetheart Palmiers
1 package of frozen Puff pastry, defrost according to directions on the box. Do not let it come to room temperature though
1/4 to 2/3 cups granulated sugar, may need more or less
Pink chocolate buttons/drops/melts, Wilton or other brand Sprinkles, if desired
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Line 2 baking pans with parchment paper.
On a clean counter or cutting board, liberally sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Take ONE of the thawed puff pastry sections out of the package (the box comes with 2 sections) and lay it on top of the sugar. Roll the pastry into a rectangle of just over an 1/8″ thickness.
Sprinkle the rectangle lightly with sugar.
Working from a long side, roll it together, not tight, but snug to the middle.
Repeat this with the other side, so that both rolls meet in the middle.
Slice the palmiers into about 1/2″ slices.
Bake for 15-22 minutes, depending on the size of cookies and your oven. Bake to a light brown yet make sure the center of the cookies are baked through. Remove from oven and place on cooling rack. You can use the parchment paper for another batch of these same cookies. When cookies are all baked and cooled, place about 1/2 cup of the pink chocolate melts into a microwaveable bowl.
Heat for 15 seconds, stir well, continue for 10 second intervals until the chocolate is smooth and warm to a bit more than a baby bath temperature. Spread the cookies with the melted chocolate, all or half, as desired
Use sprinkles if desired.
Allow chocolate to set up. Store in an air-tight container.
