St Patrick's PB&J
St Patrick’s PB&J

I don’t think there is a lick of Irish in our family line, but this is one of our family’s favorite holidays. Looking for food and fun ideas?  I’ve got it here for you and it’s easy, simple and quick! This will soon become one of your family fun memories too. I also have fabulous desserts and treats to share with friends and family that will make them smile like they found a Pot Of Gold:)

St. Patrick’s Day is a day I tried to make special – just because!

When the kids were young they made Leprechaun traps that were silly, but serious business to them. The ‘Leprechaun’ was always prepared with a treat and a note of Sorry, they didn’t catch him this year and better luck next time. It was MUST that there is a Treasure Hunt.

  •       It was low key with Leprechaun footprints to lead to the prize when the kids were young.
  •      As they got older I had treasure hunt clues leading to places around the house.
  •      When a bit older (yes as teens and even young adults they wanted it), I contacted neighbors for their permission to leave clues in their mailbox, on their porch, or a chair in their yard; with a clue for the hunt.

Green candy, gold chocolate coins were a constant prize of the treasure.   Food for the day was a celebration and was based on how busy I was, and their time due to sports and extracurricular activities

“John, I’d like to knock sense into that blasted head of yours! It didn’t seem to help before, but maybe this time…” Harry’s voice was gruff as he freed one hand holding on to John’s shirt. Then pulled his fist back as far as he was able, as though gaining all possible leverage for a hard punch.

“Now wait Harry!” sniveled John, and he looked as if he were going to cry.

“Now wait Harry!” sniveled John, and he looked as if he were going to cry.

“Wait, for what? Are you going to pay McCleary? Are you going to make up the time we’ve lost due to your idiocy? Are you going to share your crops if we don’t have enough planting season left? What can you do John besides lie, take advantage, cheat and look out for yourself?”

“Umm…’s not like that,” John blubbered.

Harry released John with a hard shove, causing John to fall squarely to the ground with a thud.

A Mother's Shadow

Emily Cross is a pioneer in every sense of the word. Navigating a new marriage, as well as journeying to unsettled territory in the early 1800s United States, she has many lessons to learn. Through the indescribable joys, along with profound heartache, Emily grows closer to, and knowing God. Emily’s story provides inspiration for prevailing through hard times with dignity, faith, and courage. Each chapter has a section that will urge readers to live a better life and how to leave a noble legacy for generations to come. Part historical fiction, part self-help, A MOTHER’S SHADOW will prompt readers to live a richer, Christian-centered life. Come along as we learn more about our self while we follow Emily’s adventures in the early 19th century America.  See what two of my readers have to say.

I loved this book! It was written in such a unique way with self-improvement sections weaved through the story. As a newly married young woman, I could relate to many of the experiences, even though it was a different time period, and the self-improvement sections made it more than just a novel. Absolutely loved it!

I love this book! It is one that I can read again and again. It has simple but elegant reminders of the things that we should already be doing. Some of them we know and some we might not know. This story is well written in a time period that is intriguing to find out about with principals that we can relate to todays trials. The writer was truly inspired to write so beautifully about such a tough topic. This is a must read for all, but especially those young married couples or about to marry. This book will guide you to "Choose the Right" in a whole new way.

Carrie's Cooking For Keeps

From Carrie to you:

Cooking can feel like a juggling act.  Many cook books show beautiful pictures of culinary perfection yet fail to really show the novice the secrets to success.  For those wanting to learn how to cook, the trial and error can be annoying.  I created my Cooking for Keeps for cooks at all levels of expertise.  My step by step instructions with the pictures to show how it's done, makes preparing delicious food fun and easy.  I believe that you will love the results and so will those you cook for.

"I am a homeschooling mom who has taken the time this summer to teach my kids a few cooking lessons from this cookbook. It is very easy to understand as well as use and is excellent for beginner cooks. The beginning section of this book contains a lot of useful info such as a description of common ingredients used, cooking terms and measurements. The book also includes cooking basics such as "how to choose and prepare eggs," "how to grease a pan without cooking spray," " how to choose tomatoes, apple's and avocados" just to name a few.

Some of my kids favorite recipes from this book are the French bread pizza, macho nachos and orange jelly salad. Although they love many other dishes in this book, those are their absolute favorites. I just love how enthusiastic they get when it's time for us to cook together. They love to help out in the kitchen and they also love knowing that they helped create whatever meal we are having that day.

If you want to get your children involved in meal prep then this most definitely the book for you. Or if you are wanting to learn how to cook yourself or already know how but need new recipes I would highly suggest that you try this cookbook. 5 stars all the way!"
