My awesome neighbors Jessica and Michal, who have been very good friends to Delsi, my daughter, since they were all young; were so kind to make this tutorial for me.      How GREAT are these!  Fun, quick, inexpensive. A great camp craft, teen activity, girls day project to have for days at the pool, or to make to match your summer outfits.

DIY Funky Flip Flops

• A pair of plain flip flops

• Fabric of your choice

• Pinking Shears

• RulerFunky Flip Flops 1

Directions: First you will want to cut strips of fabric into 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. The strips don’t have to be exact.Funky Flip Flops 2Don’t worry if you don’t have pinking shears you can use a pair of regular scissors as well. When cutting the fabric I used about 25-30 strips of fabric per flip flop (depending on the shoe size.)

Next you will want to tie the fabric around the flip flop straps.Funky Flip Flops 3When tying the fabric around the flip flop I only tied it into one knot. Funky Flip Flops 4If you are going to use more than one type of material start alternating. You may notice your strands starting to fray but that’s ok it adds charm.  Funky Flip Flops 5

I kept tying down until I had about 2 inches of flip flop strap showing.Funky Flip Flops 6

Trim the edges to your preferred length.

These are very quick and inexpensive making it a fun project for yourself or for your friends!Funky Flip Flops 7

Jessica and Michal made these fun pair of flip flops for Delsi as a gift when she returned home from Brazil.   By the way, Jessica and Michal are twins!  Thank you again gals!!!

Recognize a blessing and be a blessing today

  1. So, so cute and think my girls would love to do something like this. I totally pinned and will try soon. Thanks for sharing this here today and hope you link up at the Pin It Hop on my blog when you can, too :)

  2. Carrie,

This would be perfect for a girls birthday party. My girls love sleepovers, but I always had to come up with things to do. This idea would be perfect. I am going to get my Diana, age 11, a couple of pairs of flip flops and make these cute flip flops this week or next. She will love it and it will give her something to do.

  3. How precious are these! So cute and I can’t believe how simple they are to make. Great idea for summer Carrie with only a tiny investment I can be styling!

  4. I love flip flops…you will hardly find me in anything else once the weather warms up. These are cute and would be good to use on any of your flip flops that don’t look so great on the top.

    Pinning it!
    Thanks for sharing!
